Designed in a way to blur the distinction between indoor versus outdoor, McKenzie's goal was to create a tropical, modern solution with a plethora of exterior spaces, allowing an ample amount of natural light while retaining a warm residential feel for this Miami Beach residence. The use of stone, dark stucco, and extensive glass on the first floor with white stucco walls and limited glass on the second floor, helped accomplish the initial concept of a lofted mass where the private bedrooms would reside over a much more transparent and recessive base.
