Case Study: Play-In
Play-In…A Multi-sensory Activity Center
McKenzie Construction was contracted to complete the build-out of Play-in’s debut facility in Miami’s burgeoning Wynwood District. Over 8 weeks, McKenzie’s construction team transformed a former warehouse space totaling 5,000 square feet into an interactive multi-sensory activity center for children of all ages. Three distinct environments were created – ‘Go’, ‘Sense,’ and ‘Create’— to stimulate and nurture children’s development in a specific way. In addition to the kid’s gym, the project also included a new storefront entrance with an Ipe landing, stained and polished concrete floors, administration and therapy areas as well as custom millwork and receptions desks.
Play-in opened its doors in January 2011 to rave reviews and has quickly distinguished itself as a leader in children’s development and education within the greater Miami region and beyond. Together with McKenzie construction, Play-in was able to “very quickly, efficiently, and effortlessly, come to be” says Play-in owner Nina Ginatta. “The McKenzie team was not only professional, but helpful beyond words. They went the extra mile when it came to most everything I asked of them, including post construction installation of equipment inside the gym. They were a major, contributing asset in bringing my vision to life, and I will always be grateful for the work and service that they did for us.”
