Founded in 2005 by Gavin McKenzie, McKenzie began as a small, self-performing residential general contracting firm. The vision was to create a team of like-minded individuals who were passionate about the art and science of building and the improvement of others’ lives through sustainable and progressive approaches.

In 2009, with the help of an integral and passionate team, McKenzie evolved, expanding into the commercial space. Craft, McKenzie’s custom fabrication arm, was created in 2012.

Today, McKenzie houses these divisions under one roof in a unique 25,000-square-foot re-purposed warehouse from 1938. Our goal remains the same, to provide a comprehensive and transparent approach to construction that puts professionalism and satisfaction at the forefront. From adaptive reuse to new construction, McKenzie delivers client-focused and quality products throughout the South Florida area.

Our team aids design teams in constructability and cost impact as details are being developed and materials are being selected. We also understand and perform schedule and logistics analysis so a true timeline can be developed early on. This project delivery method enables the team to anticipate costs prior to permitting and final construction documentation being completed. This allows for seamless adjustment of program management and design in accordance with budget and desired return on investment. The focus on design and construction in parallel also reduces discrepancies and costly changes in later phases of the project.

Preconstruction is more than just an initial phase at McKenzie; it is a fundamental pillar of our project delivery strategy. The navigation of South Florida’s dynamic construction laws requires a detailed approach in order to ensure successful project execution, whether in the commercial or residential sectors. By conducting constructability reviews, advising design teams on efficient detailing, engaging trade partners for material selection and pricing insights, and developing construction schedules with early procurement strategies, we create a streamlined process that keeps projects on track. Additionally, our approach to program scheduling, tracking, and progressive budgeting ensures that costs remain transparent and aligned with project goals from the outset. GAVIN McKENZIE

FOUNDER
Gavin has over 16 years of experience running many medium scale design-focused commercial and residential projects throughout South Florida.
As Founder, Gavin oversees a team of managers that uphold his attention to finish details and customer service in every project. Over the years, he has led McKenzie Construction and McKenzie Craft in focusing on the delivery of a high-end quality product to both residential and commercial markets. The McKenzie companies have become a comprehensive solution for clients by offering a suite of services including design and construction consulting in addition to high-end construction and craftwork services.
VINCENT FEDERICI

CEO
Vincent Federici, a third-generation millwork professional, serves as the CEO of McKenzie. With almost two decades of experience in the millwork and construction industries, Vincent leads the company’s strategic direction across divisions. As CEO, he ensures the highest standards of customer service and project execution, delivering comprehensive construction solutions across a variety of projects.
A dedicated member of AWI, ISFA, and NKBA, Vincent also holds numerous technical certifications across various fabrication disciplines, underscoring his commitment to industry excellence.
BRUCE GUCKERT

VP of CONSTRUCTION
With 23 years of expertise leading construction teams through a wide range of hospitality, adaptive reuse, and ultra-luxury residential projects, Bruce is the VP of Construction at McKenzie. Joining McKenzie in 2024, Bruce oversees our construction department from preconstruction through turnover. Bruce is also a second-generation millworker professional.
Prior to joining McKenzie, Bruce built leading luxury hospitality, retail, and residential projects throughout the U.S., in addition to managing regional operations for a national CM firm. Clients included IHG, Eleven Madison Park, LVMH, TKRG, Ennismore, Hilton, CBRE/TT, Soho, NOBU, JOEY Restaurant Group, and similar brands.
JOHN MACMILLAN

PROJECT EXECUTIVE
John MacMillan is a seasoned Project Executive with 15 years of extensive experience in the construction industry. Known for his strategic vision and meticulous attention to detail, John has successfully overseen the development of numerous high-profile hotels, restaurants, and multi-family homes. His expertise in project management, coupled with his ability to foster strong client relationships and lead diverse teams, has consistently resulted in the timely and within-budget completion of complex projects.
JUAN CHAHIN

PROJECT MANAGER
Juan Chahin brings five years of industry experience to the team supported by combined technical expertise, education, and strong project management capabilities. Holding multiple certifications, including General Contractor (GC), Mechanical (MECH), and Plumbing (PLUMB), his skillset allows him to oversee a wide range of construction disciplines effectively. At McKenzie, Juan has contributed to numerous notable projects, demonstrating his ability to manage complex builds while ensuring quality and efficiency. His multidisciplinary background makes him a valuable asset in delivering high-quality construction solutions.
SHAWN TREECE

GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT
As our General Superintendent, Shawn brings over 32 years of construction experience and a proven track record of successfully managing multimillion-dollar projects from start to finish. His extensive expertise spans a wide range of construction types throughout the South Florida area. With deep knowledge of construction processes, exceptional problem-solving skills, and strong leadership abilities, Shawn consistently delivers high-quality results on time and within budget.
MIKEY ESCOBAR

SUPERINTENDENT
With seven years of industry experience, Mikey Escobar serves as a Superintendent at McKenzie Construction, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. He has managed a diverse range of projects across South Florida, overseeing site operations, safety protocols, and team coordination. Mikey utilizes McKenzie’s project management tools to enhance communication, track progress, and deliver projects on time and within budget.

EVENTS SPACE

Once a community worship center, this adaptive-reuse project has been transformed into a multi-functional space in the Mimo area, directly north of Miami’s downtown. With large and small event spaces, office space, a full commercial kitchen, and a newly remodeled outdoor area, this building has been redesigned to create a hybrid, dynamic center for a variety of functions.

TURNBERRY

This premier office space offers a combination of private and shared areas, including conference rooms, a library, and lounge spaces. With polished concrete floors and an impressive millwork package by McKenzie Craft, this sophisticated environment is designed to adapt to the evolving needs of the workplace.

SAGE SALES

CENTER

The sales center for Sage Intracoastal Residences features a variety of Craft fabrications, from the custom reception desk to a bar station and display area for finishes. Behind the reception desk, the fabricated partition features metal trim lattice, framing fluted semi-transparent glass that reflects the linear elements found on the desk front and bar.

With an expansive scope spread across multiple stories, FIU received a large set of McKenzie Craft fabrications for their residential building in Sweetwater. From a custom reception desk in the lobby area, to fully outfitted study lounges, workout centers, and community spaces, McKenzie assisted in elevating this new residence hall with luxurious finishes, designed with functionality in mind.

Set on the 12th floor of a downtown building with sweeping views of the bay, this office suite has been fully built out and is ready for new tenants, featuring polished concrete floors and a mix of shared and private office space.

Located on the 13th floor of The Elser Hotel in Downtown Miami, the PMG Developers office space boasts an impressive array of McKenzie Craft fabrications, from a fully custom kitchen setup, complete with millwork and a large island, to a 44-foot built-in unit, creating storage space and media solutions. With the edition of a custom conference table and reception desk, the office suite has no shortage of luxury finishes to compliment the excellent view of Downtown Miami.

A project years in the making, McKenzie Construction and Craft helped complete the build-out of this multistory church in the heart of Miami’s downtown area. Located near Bayside Marketplace, every story of this community center offers excellent ocean views, from media rooms and conference rooms to an adaptive sanctuary space. With special attention paid to ADA-accessible amenities, FUMC’s new location promises to be a dynamic addition to the city.

We complement our client’s vision, design aesthetic, and goals by paying close attention to details from inception to completion. Our work is managed through a highly collaborative team effort that closely integrates the roles of the client, McKenzie, and third-party consultants to provide a coherent project team. We provide detailed proposals that reflect our deep understanding of the project’s complexity. Our proposals reinforce our efforts to achieve the high-quality construction and finishes our clients expect while leveraging ongoing Value Engineering to obtain cost savings whenever possible.

Our custom architectural fabrication division, McKenzie Craft, is staffed with craftsmen who produce some of South Florida’s best millwork and bespoke fabrications utilizing wood, steel, glass, or other materials which offer the opportunity to add further value to a project. McKenzie’s divisions, Construction and Craft, have the proven experience needed to complete our client’s most demanding project goals.
